The Salesians came to Sulthan Bathery in 1995 and the Don Bosco Technical School was set up in 1996 as an Educational Institution that would cater to youth of Wayanad. With steady progress, Don Bosco College started offering regular UG courses affiliated by the University of Calicut in 2005. The College established a reputation of being an institution of quality Higher education in 2015 when it was accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with “B” Grade. This was a great leap in the growth of the College as the college has the credit of being the first Accredited Un-Aided Arts & Science college in the whole of Calicut University.

The college was reaccredited by NAAC with an enhanced grade of B+ in 2022.Today in 2024, the college offers 9 Undergraduate and 4 Post Graduate Programs. Career Oriented Add on courses, MoU based student enrichment programs and qualitative co-curricular and extra curricular activities make DBC a student centric HEI.Infrastructural facilities include ICT enabled clas rooms, laboratories, library, Audio Visual halls, Play grounds, Gymnasium, Parking area, Open grass meadow, Hostels, Canteen and Fresh water pond.The entire campus is under CCTV surveillance for the safety of the learners.

The college has rendered remarkable service in the field of forming young citizens with values, knowledge, skills and leadership skills. This is being done with specific Vision and Mission following the Educational Method of the patron founder St John Bosco.
